"Economic models of flavor"

I will discuss the general problem of flavor in the Standard Model
including a general description of some of the possible solutions that have
been put forward in the recent past. I will then present a series of simple
and economical arguments that lead to simple and interesting models that can
in principle be tested at present colliders and experiments.
